FFPMP phase 1 developed and introduced participatory forest and land fire management for farmers with varying agricultural activities in Jambi and West Kalimantan. At the Jambi site, the Integrated Green Belt (IGB) was developed along with wire fences, ditches, and rows of trees. At the West Kalimantan site, sloping agricultural land technology was developed along with nitrogen fixing tree species and crop trees. Both programs aimed at developing and improving fire management conducted by farmers through the establishment of green belts for the prevention of fire, incentives of income generation by agricultural products, and protection of farm lands from animals.

FFPMP 2 monitors these activities to improve the programs and study their potential applicability to other areas.
